Vol. 373 No. 12

Written Answers. - Driving Test.

135.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Donegal who applied for a driving test, paid the fee, and was called for the test in Donegal town on 22 April but was unable to do the test as her provisional licence had expired, although she had been informed by the Garda in Dungloe Garda station that she would not need a licence, he will waive the requirement for the payment of a second fee in view of these circumstances.

It is clearly stated on the appointment notice for the driving test that an applicant must produce a current provisional licence for inspection by the driver tester before the start of the test and that failure to comply with this requirement will result in the test not being conducted and the fee being forfeited.

It appears, however, that the person to whom the Deputy refers may have been misinformed in this case. In the circumstances, I am making arrangements for another test appointment for her without payment of a further fee.
