Vol. 373 No. 12

Written Answers. - Conductive Education.

156.

asked the Minister for Health if he will initiate conductive education for those children suffering from spina bifida and other motor diseases; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is only recently that conductive education has begun to be discussed in this country. It is a system which brings together educational and rehabilitation services to form a unified programme for children suffering from motor disorders. It involves, therefore, organising in a different way the various disciplines providing services to the child. The value and feasibility of the system is at present under discussion amongst the voluntary organisations which provide services for these children.
