asked the Minister for Education if she will give an up-to-date report regarding the need for the essential repairs and extension to Saint Patrick's national school, Fethard, County Tipperary; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department on 24 February 1987 sanctioned a grant for the replacement of defective panels at St. Patrick's national school, Fethard, County Tipperary. The school authorities more recently applied for grants to improve the placespace and doors and this application is to be reported on by the Department's professional advisers, so that the grant application may be processed.

My Department's professional advisers are conducting a feasibility study in relation to a grant sought by the school authorities to extend the school, which currently has one prefab classroom. The outcome of the study will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for Education if she will give an up-to-date report regarding the provision of an extension to the vocational school at Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The rate at which architectural planning can proceed in this case will have to be reviewed in the context of level of capital resources available in this and future years.
