Vol. 373 No. 12

Written Answers. - County Tipperary Schools.

171.

asked the Minister for Education if she will give an up-to-date report regarding the provision of a new post-primary school at Fethard, County Tipperary; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The submission of the developed sketch scheme for this project is currently awaited in the Department. As with all projects at second level schools, the rate at which this project will proceed will depend on the level of capital resources available.

172.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the provision of the new vocational school at Cahir, County Tipperary; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The revised submission of the developed sketch scheme was recently requested and is currently awaited in the Department. As with all projects at second level schools, the rate at which this project may proceed must be reviewed in the context of the capital resources available.

173.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in proceeding with the building of the extension to Ardfinnan national school, County Tipperary; when work will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has agreed in principle to grant-aid the extension to Ardfinnan national school, County Tipperary. I recently received a deputation representing the school authorities and explained to them that the pressures on the resources available to my Department at present are such that it would take some time yet to clear this project to the stage where it would be possible to authorise the invitation of tenders. I am therefore not in a position to say when work on the project may commence.
