Vol. 373 No. 12

Written Answers. - Budget Booklet.

25.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will provide revised updated tables for each of the three trends stated in pages 84 and 85 of the Budget Booklet 1987; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It would not be appropriate, at this stage, to revise the tables referred to by the Deputy which are produced in the context of the annual budget. In relation to the national debt, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Deputy Noonan's question which I answered on 17 June.

26.

asked the Minister for Finance if he would provide revised updated tables for each of the three tables listed in page 83 of the Budget Booklet 1987 with particular reference to the projected 1987 Community receipts and contributions; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is not possible at this stage to predict with accuracy all of Ireland's receipts by way of grants, subsidies and loans from Community Sources for 1987. I would refer the Deputy to page 82 of the Budget 1987 booklet which shows a provision of IR£80 million for the Regional Fund for 1987. Specific forecasts are not available for the other individual headings. However, I expect that overall Ireland's receipts in 1987 will be of the same order of magnitude as those in 1986.

As regards our contribution to the Community budget, I would refer the Deputy to the Estimates of Receipts and Expenditure (page 101 of the Budget 1987 booklet) which shows a gross contribution of IR£285 million to the budget of the European Communities. The net 1987 contribution, corresponding to the 1986 figure of IR£243.5 million shown on page 83, would be of the order of IR£275 million.

The estimated 1987 contribution to the EIB, as given on page 104 of the Budget 1987 booklet, is IR£0.8 million. ECSC levies in 1987 will be approximately IR£0.2 million.
