Vol. 373 No. 12

Written Answers. - Sites at Howth Harbour.

88.

asked the Minister for the Marine (a) the number of applications received for sites at Howth Harbour; (b) the number of sites now allocated; (c) when building can start on the factory sites; (d) the amount of money available in this year's budget for work at Howth Harbour; and (e) the total cost to 31 May 1987 for the Howth Harbour development.

Twenty-two applications were received for industrial sites on the reclaimed area at the back of the West Pier, Howth Harbour. In addition, ten applications have been received for existing sites or for extensions to existing sites at Howth Harbour.

The present position is that the Office of Public Works is preparing a detailed plan showing how the area available on the industrial site can be developed to best advantage. Until the plan is available and examined by my Department it is not possible to say when sites can be allowed, and the building can start.

A sum of approximately £100,000 will be available from the Fisheries Vote for harbour development works at Howth in 1987. Expenditure up to 31 May 1987 on works at Howth Harbour amounted to £11,532,216.
