Vol. 373 No. 12

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

109.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have a house improvement grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny where the work has been inspected and passed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The grant will be paid as soon as possible.

110.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Clare.

The grant will be paid as soon as possible.

112.

asked the Minister for the Environment the level of expenditure on a new house that is required after 1 May 1985 in order to obtain payment of a £2,000 new house grant as opposed to a £1,000 new house grant; if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who has submitted details of such expenditure will be considered for the higher rate of payment; and if he will clarify the criteria for eligibility in this regard.

Where a house has been built otherwise than by contract, the higher rate of grant (£2,000) is payable only where the house was not substantially completed by 1 May 1985. There is no predetermined amount of expenditure which must have been incurred after that date on the construction of the house. The documentation submitted by the applicant in this case does not establish that the higher rate of grant is appropriate.

113.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in payment of a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare who has modified his house in accordance with instructions from his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The receipt of additional documentation requested from the applicant is awaited.

116.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

It has been necessary to request a further report from the Department's inspector and on its receipt payment of the grant will be considered.

117.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a new house grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon; the date the file went to the inspector; when it was returned to his Department; if it was approved for payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Additional information has been requested from the applicant to determine his eligibility for the £2,000 grant. Accordingly the need for an inspection of the house does not arise at this stage.

118.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a new house grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon; the date the file went to the inspector; when it was returned to his Department; if it was approved for payment; the date on which the grant will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An inspection carried out in February 1987 revealed that the house was not completed and not occupied. The inspector called again on 1 April 1987 but was unable to gain access. An inspection, by appointment with a view to payment of the grant, will be carried out as soon as possible.

119.

An inspection, with a view to approval of the grant, will be carried out as soon as possible.
