Vol. 373 No. 13

Written Answers. - Telephone and Postal Costs.

136.

asked the Minister for Energy the estimated amount that his Department will pay to Telecom Éireann and An Post during 1987 for services rendered; if it is possible to make savings in these areas of expenditure and if he will give the corresponding figures for the 1986 out-turn.

It is estimated that my Department will pay a total of £681,000 to Telecom Éireann and £172,000 to An Post during 1987. Because of the essential nature of the demand on these services, it will not be possible to make any substantial savings in these areas of expenditure. The corresponding figures for the 1986 out-turn were £698,995 to Telecom Éireann and £122,475 to An Post.
