asked the Minister for Defence the efforts and proposals, if any, he has for the proper patrol of fishing waters off the Mayo-Galway coastline so as to attempt to ensure the non-infringement of our fishing waters by foreign trawlers; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick West): The area of the west coast off Mayo-Galway is patrolled by the Naval Service as part of its fishery protection duties. Forty-eight patrols of the area were carried out this year up to and including 17 June.
