asked the Minister for Health the number of private out-patients and in-patients treated in St. James's Hospital, Dublin 8 for 1986; and the number of public out-patients and in-patients for that same period; the number of X-ray and pathology tests provided for private patients there for 1986; and the number of such tests carried out outside of normal working hours.

The number of public out-patient attendances and in-patients treated in St. James's Hospital in 1986 was 84,099 and 34,982 respectively.

My Department do not collect on a routine basis figures in relation to private patients treated in public hospitals.
