Vol. 374 No. 1

Written Answers. - Road Humps Installation.

191.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the issuing of regulations to the Dublin Transport Authority to enable them to approve the installations of road humps as requested by Dublin Corporation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Dublin Transport Authority Act, 1986, contains provisions enabling road ramps to be provided in the Dublin area. They may only be provided by a local authority, with my approval, under Section 32 of the Act.

The authority has requested my Department to make the necessary regulations. The preparation of these regulations is at an advanced stage. In the meantime, I have notified the Authority of the proposed requirements in regulations relating to the provision of ramps. This will enable an initial selection to be made by the authority of locations where ramps are considered necessary with a view to making the appropriate directions as soon as possible.
