Vol. 374 No. 1

Written Answers. - Public Service Package Redundancy.

69.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of persons in his Department who have been offered and have accepted the July 1987 redundancy package relating to the public service.

To date no officers directly employed in my Department have been offered the redundancy package. The position in the offices under my aegis which have offered the terms of the package to their staff is as follows:—

(i) The terms have been offered to approximately 350 staff in the professional and technical areas of the Office of Public Works and just over 50 applications have been received expressing interest in availing of the terms of the scheme. However it is too early at this stage to state how many will actually accept the terms.

The terms have also been offered to industrial staff in the Furniture Branch of the OPW where 48 redundancies are being sought. To date 9 applications have been processed.

(ii) In the Valuation/Ordnance Survey Office, a total of 36 staff have been offered the terms. To date six applications have been received expressing interest in the scheme.
