Vol. 374 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Relief.

75.

asked the Minister for Finance the names of the bodies which, to date, have applied for relief in relation to income from certain trading operations to be carried out in the Custom House docks area under Section 30 of the Finance Act, 1987; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

To date, there have been two formal applications for a certificate under section 30 of the Finance Act, 1987, and both have been approved in principle by me. The certificates in question will issue shortly. The companies involved are Gandon Securities Limited and KB Financial Services (Ireland) Limited.

A large number of queries have been received in relation to possible further projects and many of these are expected to result in formal applications for a certificate. It would be inappropriate for me, however, to give the House details of any outstanding inquiries since all such inquiries may not necessarily be successful. It is obviously desirable in these circumstances that all applications and inquiries should be treated on a confidential basis.
