Vol. 374 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Assessment.

80.

asked the Minister for Finance the present position regarding a person (details supplied) in County Waterford who appealed against a tax assessment.

An assessment for 1987-88 was raised on the taxpayer on 31 July 1987 in respect of his profits as a greyhound trainer. He appealed against the assessment but, as he did not specify the amount of tax which he considered would be payable on determination of the appeal, the tax charged in the assessment is legally due and payable.

A return of income form has been sent to the taxpayer and when he submits that form, duly completed, to the inspector of taxes, his correct liability (if any) for the current year will be determined.
