asked the Minister for the Marine the reason fish production per unit area in the Irish Sea is so low; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Work on fish production per unit area in the Irish Sea carried out by British Scientists at the MAFF laboratory at Lowestoft concluded that the lower productivity of the Irish Sea compared with the North Sea could be ascribed to natural long-term oceanographic and meteorological factors.
