Vol. 374 No. 3

Written Answers. - Product Identification Centre.

59.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will outline the present position in regard to the establishment of a product identification centre as promised in the Programme for National Recovery.

The idea of establishing a Product Identification Centre stemmed from the need for Irish industry to develop new products capable of competing successfully in sophisticated world markets.

The IGC and the IDA, through the national linkage programme, and CTT, through its design and production development department, are involved in this area. The possibilities for further improvement are being considered in the context of the National Marketing Plan referred to in the Programme for National Recovery.
