Vol. 374 No. 5

Written Answers. - State Boards Members' Remuneration.

43.

asked the Minister for Justice the level of remuneration of the non-executive directors of boards, companies or agencies under his control which was first set; when these levels were set; if they have ever been revised in line with inflation or with the level of remunerations of non-executive directors of private sector entities of similar size and responsibilities.

The only non-executive directors of boards given under my control in receipt of remuneration are members of the Legal Aid Board and the Garda Síochána Complaints Board. As to the Legal Aid Board, the fees payable to members are £1,400 per annum. The fees for public servant members of the board from 1979 (when it was established) to 1985 were £1,200 per annum. The answer to the last part of the question is "No".

As to the Garda Síochána Complaints Board, which was established in April 1987, the fees payable to its members are £1,500 per annum.
