I propose to take Questions Nos. 84, 85, 87, 88 and 89 together.

These grants were allocated on 9 March, 1987 but were withdrawn shortly afterwards, along with all other amenity grant allocations, so as to permit a review of the grants scheme in the light of the budgetary position. Following the review, fresh allocations were made but the projects referred to in the questions were not among those assisted from the reduced provision of £4 million available.

I might add that, in the original allocations, the Dublin area was to receive a total of £4,186,000 or 70 per cent of the available funds while 12 counties received no allocation at all. A more equitable arrangement was achieved in the revised allocations: All areas received some funding while Dublin's share at £1,967,000 or 49 per cent of the available funds, was still maintained at a high level.
