Vol. 374 No. 5

Written Answers. - Travel Assistance for Unemployed.

94.

asked the Minister for Labour if any assistance is made available to unemployed persons to travel to interviews for employment in other parts of the country; and if not if he considers such a scheme would be of benefit.

No assistance is available from my Department or the various manpower agencies to unemployed people to travel to interviews for employment in other parts of the country.

In the present budgetary climate, where economies are being made in all aspects of public expenditure, it is not realistic to consider the introduction of such a scheme of assistance.
