Vol. 374 No. 7

Written Answers. - Baggot Street Hospital, Dublin.

201.

asked the Minister for Health the plans, if any, he has for the future of Baggot Street Hospital, Dublin 2; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The board of Baggot Street Hospital have now agreed to the transfer of acute services to St. James's Hospital. This transfer will be completed by the end of this year. Discussions are on-going between the hospital board, the Eastern Health Board and St. James's Hospital with a view to ensuring that the optimum use is made of available resources in Baggot Street.

The board of Baggot Street Hospital have agreed, in principle, that some long stay beds run by the Eastern Health Board and community services operated by local G.P.'s should be provided at the hospital and the intention is that these should be fully integrated with all other health and welfare services provided in the area.
