Vol. 374 No. 7

Written Answers. - Drogheda, Louth, New School.

250.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in giving sanction to the new CBS secondary school at Newfoundwell, Drogheda, County Louth; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

It is not possible to give sanction for the commencement of construction in this case as the restriction on the relevant capital allocation, which restriction the Government consider necessary under their Programme for National Recovery, precludes incurring additional expenditure on any new building starts for the remainder of 1987 or for 1988, other than on minor capital works of an emergency nature.

The total estimated cost of this project is £2.6 million.
