Vol. 374 No. 9

Written Answers. - Inner City Fund.

155.

asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of money not already allocated at the time the inner city fund was abolished; if he will allocate that money to projects under consideration at that time; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The total amount in the inner city fund not allocated when the Government decision to abolish this inner city group was implemented, was £88,868. It is not proposed to allocate this amount to projects as suggested by the Deputy. The Government is, however, committed to the continuation and intensification of their efforts to bring about the renewal and regeneration of inner city areas, in Dublin and throughout the country, and, in this way, to the achievement of a lasting improvement in the economic and social conditions of inner city communities.
