Vol. 374 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin Motorway.

158.

asked the Minister for the Environment if the expected motorway scheme for the Balbriggan, County Dublin by-pass has been submitted to his Department by Dublin County Council; and, if so, if he has arranged for a public inquiry; the proportion of the £500,000 allocated to finance the design work for this route which has been expended to date in 1987; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Dublin County Council has not yet submitted the Balbriggan motorway scheme to my Department.

The September, 1987 expenditure returns submitted by the local authority to the Department showed that the total expenditure incurred by the authority on preliminary costs of the proposed scheme up to 30 September 1987 was £60,486. This expenditure has been recouped in full from the road grant of £250,000 allocated for the scheme on 9 April last.
