Vol. 374 No. 9

Written Answers. - National Anthem.

207.

asked the Minister for Education if the national schools' curriculum contains the teaching of the words and music of the National Anthem; if not, if she will arrange to have it included; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The syllabus in civics in the curriculum for national schools urges that teachers should foster in their pupils a sense of national identity. Among the suggestions made in this regard is the teaching of the words and music of the National Anthem and the significance and respect which should be accorded to it.
