Vol. 374 No. 10

Written Answers. - Clondalkin (Dublin) Right of Way.

70.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will now make an order for the abolition of a right of way on Knockmeenagh Lane, Clondalkin, Dublin 24 as is requested by the residents of Saint Brigid's Cottages, Clondalkin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Following consideration of the evidence given at an oral hearing and the report of the inspector, the then Minister decided to defer a decision until he had assessed the results of traffic management measures which might be applied as an alternative to extinguishment of the public right of way. Subsequently these measures, which involve a one-way traffic system, were introduced on a trial basis for Knockmeenagh Road and Knockanagh Lane (St. Brigid's Cottages) in November 1986. Reports have been received from the Garda and Dublin County Council on the operation of that system. As these reports constitute additional evidence relating to the extinguishment proposal, I am arranging to have the oral hearing reopened so that this evidence can be presented to the objectors and to the other interested parties. When I receive the inspector's report on the reopened hearing, I will give a decision on the application.
