Vol. 375 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Donegal School Transport.

195.

asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction the provision of a school transport from their home for pupils (details supplied) at Pobal Scoil, Gweedore, Lunniagh, County Donegal, as they reside in an isolated area, and their parents are concerned at the distance the children have to travel to the present pick up point, especially in winter; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The pupils in question do not qualify for school transport under the terms of the school transport scheme because they live less than three miles from Gweedore post-primary centre. They may avail themselves of concessionary fare-paying facilities on the existing service to Gweedore from a point 0.6 miles from their home. It is not open to my Department to allow additional facilities in the form of extension of service or otherwise in the case of ineligible pupils.
