Vol. 375 No. 1

Written Answers. - Forfeiture Orders.

100.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of persons who have been subject to forfeiture orders under Section 34 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 in the years 1972 to 1986 inclusive.

The numbers of persons who have forfeited employment or pension upon conviction of a scheduled offence could be compiled only after an exhaustive search of court records over a 14 year period and even then it is not clear that the records would disclose all such forfeitures. I am having the records examined to see what statistics could be collected and made available to the Deputy without the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of staff time.
