Thirty two officers in the agricultural inspectorate, agricultural officer, serological assistant, survey and mapping grades have requested that they be allowed to avail themselves of the voluntary redundancy-early retirement scheme. In accordance with the recent Government decision my Department has now offered the terms of the scheme to other officers over 50 years of age. At this stage it is not possible to estimate the likely rate of up-take of the offer.
