Vol. 375 No. 3

Written Answers. - Department Staff.

32.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the total number of secretaries, assistant secretaries, second secretaries, deputy secretaries, principal officers, executive officers, clerical officers and other grades in his Department; if there are any redundancies proposed among these grades during the year 1988; and the grades at which these redundancies will occur.

As the reply is mainly in the form of a tabular statement I propose to circulate it in the official Report.

Thirty two officers in the agricultural inspectorate, agricultural officer, serological assistant, survey and mapping grades have requested that they be allowed to avail themselves of the voluntary redundancy-early retirement scheme. In accordance with the recent Government decision my Department has now offered the terms of the scheme to other officers over 50 years of age. At this stage it is not possible to estimate the likely rate of up-take of the offer.
