The vocational preparation and training programmes are supported on a year to year basis by the European Social Fund. The number of schools that will be permitted to offer vocational preparation and training courses from September 1988 will depend on the level of support available from the European Social Fund, sanction for which will not be received until May-June 1988. Development of the vocational preparation and training programmes will focus on devising special measures to attract priority one pupils to courses.
