asked the Minister for Justice if, as a humanitarian gesture, he will allow a person (details supplied) reentry to the State for the purpose of bringing an appeal to the Supreme Court on the question of rights of residence for himself and his wife in Ireland with their children, who are Irish citizens; and if he will make a statement on the matter having regard to the recommendation of a court in Newry, County Down that he be deported to Nigeria.

It has been the practice in the past to allow aliens to remain in or return to the State where their presence here is needed in connection with court proceedings to which they are a party. I would envisage that similar facilities will be afforded to the person in question in the event that an appeal to the Supreme Court is lodged against the recently delivered judgment of the High Court in this case.
