Vol. 375 No. 8

Written Answers. - Proposed Travellers' Hard Stands.

62.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the proposal for travellers' hard stands forwarded by Galway Corporation, and if he will give the reason for the delay in approving this proposal.

On 20 October 1987 the National Building Agency on behalf of Galway Corporation submitted to my Department sketch layouts and cost plans for serviced halts for travellers at four locations, namely, Circular Road, Rahoon, Doughiska, Tuam Road and Headford Road, Approval in respect of the sites at Tuam Road, Doughiska, and Circular Road has issued subject to a number of technical revisions. Approval in principle has issued in respect of the Headford Road site. Consultation regarding redesign of certain aspects of the latter proposal are proceeding between my Department, Galway Corporation and the National Building Agency. There has been no avoidable delay in approving these proposals.
