Vol. 375 No. 9

Written Answers. - Transfer of Cutaway Bog.

36.

asked the Minister for Energy (a) the extent of Bord na Móna cutaway bog which has been acquired for afforestation by his Department (b) the location and size of each such property (c) the extent of planting to be carried out in each such property during next year's planting programme and (d) the existing forest to which each such property is assigned for managerial purposes.

Arrangements for the transfer of approximately 1,070 hectares of cutaway bog sites from Bord na Móna to the Forest Service of my Department are well advanced. A list of the sites which are proposed to be transferred is detailed in the table below, together with the names of the existing forest to which each site will be attached for management purposes. It is hoped to have the entire 1,070 hectares planted during the 1987-88 planting season.
