asked the Minister for Health if he will make funding available to the Eastern Health Board to convert the old dispensary building in Kilcullen, County Kildare, for use as an adolescent day care centre for severely mentally handicapped adolescents who are living at home at present, with their families; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Eastern Health Board, in their recent report on mental handicap services, propose to provide additional day care places in Kilcullen. I am aware that the health board have made available the old dispensary building in Kilcullen to the County Kildare Association — KARE — to facilitate this development. The project has not however been proceeded with because of the general financial situation.
