Vol. 376 No. 3

Written Answers. - Currabaha (County Waterford) School.

25.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed permanent extension to the boys' national school at Currabaha, Kilmacthomas, County Waterford; and the provision, if any, she is making for alternative accommodation.

The present position regarding the proposed permanent extension to the boys' national school at Currabaha, Kilmacthomas, County Waterford, is that tenders for the project have been received in my Department. Because, however, of the pressure on the capital funds available to my Department for the national schools building programme, I will be unable to provide a capital allocation for the project in 1988. Accordingly, a decision on the placing of a contract must be deferred.

From recent inquiries made with my Department, it is understood that the school authorities intend to submit proposals for an alternative scheme, and my Department will be prepared to examine these proposals within the constraints of whatever finances can be made available for the relief of schools which have acute accommodation problems.
