Vol. 376 No. 6

Written Answers. - Job Losses.

130.

asked the Minister for Health the number of job losses by category in each health board area for 1987; and the number of persons who have made application for voluntary redundancy under the terms of his Department's proposals.

An estimated 600 persons employed in the health service have made formal application for redundancy terms to date in 1987.

The number employed in each health board area fluctuates and it is not practicable for my Department to keep an ongoing detailed record of numbers employed in each one of over 100 organisations comprising health boards, voluntary hospitals, joint board hospitals, homes for the mentally handicapped and many other health bodies. Data regarding job losses in 1987 will not be available until after 1987 and I will forward the compiled information to the Deputy as soon as it is possible.
