Vol. 376 No. 6

Written Answers. - ICC Lending Policies.

25.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has satisfied himself that the lending policies of the ICC are an appropriate spur to industrial development; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

ICC was established as the State development bank for trade and industry. I am satisfied that within the constraints of ICC's remit to operate on a commercial basis, the corporation fulfils its role. The corporation provide a wide range of facilities geared to the needs of industry, ranging from the taking of equity stakes in recently established companies, to provision of loans on specially attractive terms and conditions to small and medium sized companies and loans on ordinary commercial terms for well established firms.
