asked the Minister for Finance if he proposes to make available, in whole or in part, to the Houses of the Oireachtas the office space in Setanta House in Dublin 2 formerly occupied by the Department of the Public Service; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Departments of Finance and the Public Service were merged on 18 March, 1987. The principal functions of the latter Department are still being carried out. For that purpose staff of the former Department of the Public Service are located in the Setanta Centre, Kildare Street and indeed staff from other locations have been moved there. It is intended in so far as is possible to centralise Department of Finance staff in Merrion Street and Setanta and the small amount of space at present unoccupied in the Setanta Centre, Kildare Street will be needed for that purpose.
