Vol. 376 No. 10

Written Answers. - Growth Promoters.

52.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he has satisfied himself that since the ban on growth promoters was implemented there has been a significant drop in the usage of same despite the fact that they are still widely available on the black market.

I am satisfied that the ban on the use of growth promoters, which is being actively enforced by my Department, is having the desired effect. While some breaches of the legislation have been detected and successfully prosecuted in the courts, there is no evidence of widespread abuse.
