Vol. 376 No. 10

Written Answers. - Office of Public Works Redundancies.

64.

asked the Minister for the Marine, in view of the takeover of previous functions of the Office of Public Works in particular harbour maintenance, the number of redundancies that are anticipated arising from the takeover; and if any forced redundancies will take place amongst the general operatives and steel fixers permanently employed by the Office of Public Works on maintenance works in Dún Laoghaire harbour, County Dublin.

Preliminary discussions on the transfer of responsibility for Dún Laoghaire harbour from the Office of Public Works to my Department are underway and arrangements for the legal transfer of functions are being examined. At this stage no decisions have been taken on the transfer of staff employed by the Office of Public Works at Dún Laoghaire.
