Vol. 376 No. 11

Written Answers. - Combat Poverty Agency Allocation.

30.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if it is intended to replace the reduction of £300,000 in the financial allocation for the Combat Poverty Agency with an allocation from the national lottery; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The allocation for the Combat Poverty Agency included in the 1988 published Estimates is £1 million. This amount was arrived at following consideration of the agency's proposed programme of work and in the light of the severe restrictions on public expenditure generally.

There are no plans to allocate moneys from the national lottery to the agency.
