Written Answers. - Residential Property Tax.

96.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will indicate the total amount of revenue raised as a result of the introduction of residential property tax; and if he will give an estimate of the cost of collecting same.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the yield from residential property tax is as follows:—

Year ended 31 December

Yield

£

1983

1,028,317

1984

1,054,796

1985

2,085,170

1986

1,761,088

1987

2,020,598

Total

The estimated cost of collecting this tax was £200,000 in 1987 which compares with an estimated annual cost of collection of £250,000 in earlier years.
