My Department received a request for exemption in respect of the individual in question by letter dated 17 September 1987. My Department replied to the request on 13 October 1987. A subsequent representation from the Deputy on behalf of the pupil is being considered at present together with many other applications for exemptions of a similar nature. I hope to be in a position to inform the Deputy of my decision in the near future.
