asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will make arrangements for the immediate payment of a farm improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A claim under the farm improvement programme for payment of a grant of £2,411 has been received and will be paid as soon as practicable. All claims under the programme are dealt with strictly in order of receipt. Due to existing budgetary constraints there is some delay in making grant payments.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange to have a grant under the farm improvement scheme paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny where the work has been completed since March, 1987 and approval granted by his Department since September, 1987.

Two claims under the farm improvement programme for payment of grants of £4,159 and £858 respectively have been received and will be paid as soon as practicable. All claims under the programme are dealt with strictly in order of receipt. Due to existing budgetary constraints there is some delay in making grant payments.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of headage grants to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and when payment will be made.

The person named maintains that some cattle were omitted from his 1987 application by a relative who completed the form on his behalf while he was in hospital. This matter is being investigated at present by departmental staff and his headage and premium grants for 1987 will be paid when his correct entitlement is established.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of a farm development scheme grant of £4,000 will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford in view of the fact that the work was completed and inspected in October, 1987.

A claim under the Farm Modernisation Scheme for payment of a grant of £3,162 has been received and will be paid as soon as practicable. All claims under the scheme are dealt with strictly in order of receipt. Due to existing budgetary constraints there is some delay in making grant payments.

61.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of a grant in respect of 30 livestock units to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford under the disadvantaged areas scheme.

A vacancy in the field staff in Waterford has delayed payment to some headage applicants, including the person named. It is expected, however, that the file in this case will be cleared for further processing this week and that headage and premium grants for 1987 will be paid to the person named at an early date.
