asked the Minister for Education if she will indicate the percentage of students who obtained grades A, B, C, D, E and F in leaving certificate Spanish in both honours and pass for each of the past five school years; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The statistics sought by the Deputy are not yet available for 1985, 1986 or 1987. I will arrange to have those forwarded to the Deputy when they have been compiled.

Following are tabular statements giving details of the statistics relating to the Leaving Certificate Examinations of 1983 and 1984 for the information of the Deputy.

asked the Minister for Education the reason the building of an extension to a school (details supplied) in County Galway, which was sanctioned by her Department in August 1987 for which the full local contribution, as required by her Department, was immediately paid by the Board of Management, has not been proceeded with.

The question of placing a contract for the building of an extension to the school referred to is being considered in the light of my Department's 1988 capital allocation for its national schools building programme. A decision will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as possible.
