Vol. 377 No. 4

Written Answers. - Voluntary Organisation for Handicapped.

88.

asked the Minister for Health the reason he has failed to meet the Union of Voluntary Organisations for the Handicapped, even though they have requested a meeting on a number of occasions to express their concern in relation to the effects of the health cutbacks on their members.

I have over the period of my holding office met on many occasions delegations from the constituent member organisations of UVOH as has the Minister of State at the Department of Health and officials of the Department. Unfortunatley, owing to a schedule of commitments, I have been unable, at the present time, to accede to this organisation's request for a meeting. I can say, however, that I am endeavouring within the resources available to me to ensure that the services for the handicapped are protected.
