Vol. 377 No. 4

Written Answers. - Drogheda (Louth) Primary School.

95.

asked the Minister for Education if in view of the temporary accommodation at Scoil Aonghusa primary school, Drogheda, County Louth, and in view of the capital programme for primary school buildings announced in the budget, she will now advise when sanction will be given for the provision of a new school building, having regard to the fact that provision has been made by Drogheda Corporation for a site to be made available; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

As I indicated in my reply to a question by the Deputy on 15 December 1987 my Department has agreed in principle to grant-aid the provision of permanent accommodation for Scoil Aonghusa national school, Drogheda, County Louth. Because, however, the project is at a very early stage of architectural planning, the allocation of a capital sum towards the cost of the building does not arise at this stage. The question of whether any improvement works might be carried out to the existing premises pending the provision of the new school is being investigated. I will advise the Deputy of developments in this respect as early as possible.
