asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has considered requesting the ESB to become the standards authority in relation to electrical standards in Ireland.

No. As the Deputy is aware the National Standards Authority of Ireland, a subsidiary of EOLAS — The Irish Science and Technology Agency, is the body charged with responsibility for all standards matters.
