I understand that, in their road works programme for 1988, Donegal County Council have made provision for restoration work on this bridge. As the bridge is located on a county road, the appropriate source of State road grant assistance towards the cost of the proposed work is the block grant which, in the case of Donegal County Council, amounts of £1.04 million this year. Subject to general guidelines issued by my Department, the distribution of the block grant to eligible works is a matter for determination by the local authority.
