Vol. 377 No. 6

Written Answers - Acquisition of Dublin Property.

215.

asked the Minister for Health the reason he informed the Eastern Health Board that they were not to proceed with the acquisition of a property (details supplied) in Townsend Street, Dublin 2 which had been designated as a site for a community health centre by his Department by way of formal promises following the closure of Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital, Dublin 2; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department did not instruct the Eastern Health Board not to proceed with the acquisition of a property in Townsend Street. Due to the imminent closure of Baggot Street hospital and the deterioration of the premises in Townsend Street due to vandalism the board decided not to proceed with the purchase of that property. However, the board has refurbished part of the former hospital at Baggot Street which they intend to open later this month as a health centre for that area.
