Vol. 377 No. 6

Written Answers - Auxiliary Dental Workers.

42.

asked the Minister for Health the reason the Dental Council have not acted on the introduction of auxiliaries under Part VII of the Dental Act, 1985.

Under the provisions of the Dentists Act, 1985 the Dental Council may, with my consent, establish and register classes of auxiliary dental workers.

In November 1985 the council established an auxiliary dental workers committee to recommend to the council the grades if any which should be introduced. It is expected that the committee will make its recommendations to the council by the middle of this year.

In the meantime, the council has sought a meeting with the Department on the matter and this will take place in the near future.
